This image represents the confrontation between the 17th-century Berlin fortress wall (and gate; Leipziger Tor) and the contemporary Leipziger Strasse.

The once-erected barrier to keep enemies out now represents the obstacle to halt the busy urban traffic. The barrier symbolizes not only physical boundaries but also the associated social-cultural issues such as the climate crisis, criminalization of activists, and the local mobility transition.

The image is part of the project 'Model Street,' initiated by Wouter Osterholt.
